Antimicrobial Peptides Laboratory

Antimicrobial peptides are powerful effectors of innate immunity with multiple functions in host defence, and a wide range of potential applications as antiinfective drugs.

Our studies involve the characterization of the biological activity, evolution, mode of action, microbial cell envelope and internal targets for, and bacterial resistance to, different classes of antimicrobial peptides.

Our aim is to increase understanding of the roles of these important innate effectors in immunity, and to develop more potent and selective peptides as candidates for drug development.
